The palace was built in the year 1912 and is based on the Indo-Saracenic architecture style and it is also known as Amba Vilas Palace. Palace is known for its light and Dasara celebration. Within the palace you can visit Sri Lakshmi Ramana Swami Temple, Durbal Hall and the Amba Vilas Palace.
Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens also called as Mysore Zoo is 7km far from our Homestay in Mysore and the travel time is around 10-15 minutes. It is one of the oldest Zoo in India, Zoo was established in 1892 by Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur. The Zoo is located in an area of 157 acres providing home to around 168 varieties of species which includes various cats, reptiles, birds etc. Zoo is also a popular breeding centre for various species across the world.
Brindavan Gardens is located at a distance of 16 kms from our Homestay in Mysore. The dam is built around the famous river Kaveri. Gardens were constructed in 1932 and spread over 60 acres of land. Manicured Grass with flower beds, fountain show with music and boating are some of the attractions at this place. There are three terrace gardens which will be illuminated during evening time.
Located at a distance of 20km from our LikeMyHome Homestay in Mysore. Famous Goddess Chamundeshwari temple is also located in this place. Statues of Nandi and Mahishasura are also located here. Goddess Chamundi named after Goddess Durga and the holy temple is also one among 18 Shakthi Peethas. The hills can be accessed by road or by stairs representing a best place to visit for nature lovers and adventure lovers. The temple will be crowded especially on Friday and Tuesday.
Bonsai Garden is located at a distance of 7km from our Homestay in Mysore. The Garden is spread over 4 acres comprising over 100 varieties of Bonsai trees. The Garden represents zen culture where the art of Bonsai was evolved. In the Garden there are statues of Monkeys and Lord Buddha. Karanji lake is spread across an area of 90 acres. Provides residence for 147 bird species it also attracts bird lover and bird photographers. There is also an butterfly park consisting 45 species of butterfies.
The Dam is located at a distance of 20km and the travel time is around 25-30 minutes from our Homestay in Mysore. The dam was built in 1932 during the Wodeyar Kings dynasty. The dam is a creation of well known engineer Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah. The height of the dam is 130 feet and there are 152 sluice gates. It is also the first irrigation dam in India.
Shuka vana is located at a distance of 7km and the approximate travel time is around 15 minutes from our Homestay in Mysore. Shuka is the Sanskrit name for the bird parrot. Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji owns the credit for the establishment of this amazing park. You can find various species of parrots here. The park was built to provide rehabilitation for abandoned and injured birds. Providing shelter for 450 species of birds, you will get to see around 2000 birds in this place.
